You've Found Your Life Safety Problem Solvers:
Along with our BAFE SP203 accreditation, we’ve been installing fire alarms for yonks and have been shortlisted for a number of national awards in fire safety, so you know you’ve put your faith in capable and experienced hands.
There are plenty of reasons why you might have found our website. Maybe…
You need your protection level reviewed following a renovation, extension or other building change
Your fire alarm system is obsolete (e.g the EMS 5000) or is causing you too much hassle, so you need help
You’ve been told you need to upgrade your system (e.g. because it's aged) and want a second opinion
You’ve had a Fire Risk Assessment or fire brigade inspection declaring you need more adequate fire detection
Your residential block of flats has moved from a 'Stay Put' evacuation policy to 'Simultaneous Evacuation' (and you may be paying for Waking Watch)
There is absolutely no fire detection or alarm system in place because it's a brand new building or you've moved in/taken over the management
Or...you've got an installer already, so you're just looking for someone to supply the materials and commission following the installation
We selected WFP to install a wireless interlinked fire alarm system in the communal areas of our block of flats. Right from the first phone call, they were a pleasure to deal with. Paul and I spent about 45 minutes discussing our requirements in detail, along with the pros and cons of the different systems on offer. I would highly recommend WFP to anyone who is considering having a fire alarm installed. They are very knowledgeable and helpful, and the customer experience from beginning to end has been outstanding.

The 4 Stages of Your Fire Alarm Installation:
To get started, we’ll need from you three essential bits of information to make this as smooth, efficient and compliant an installation as possible:
1) Your Fire Risk Assessment report, which tells us the level of detection we’re working to, i.e. the specification…(don’t have one of these? We can sort you out!)
2) Floor plans of your building, which is what we’ll apply the design onto before turning it into a CAD drawing for the installation itself which you can then keep on site for future reference and use for any other building work.
3) Any insurance requirements we’ll need to be aware of to incorporate within our installation and aftercare for you.

Don’t have these? Give us a call anyway and we’ll guide you through it.
Check out all the steps below to see what’s involved in your fire alarm installation and all the ways you’ll benefit by choosing us for this mission to get your premises equipped with a reliable and sustainable life safety system…
1
Fire Risk Assessment: As stated above, before we can get started we’ll need to know what level of detection your building needs. Haven’t got one? We’ll sort it.
2
Brief & Survey: We’ll consult with you to understand your budget, bespoke building requirements and future-proofing needs, and carry out a survey pre-design if required.
3
Design & Proposal: We’ll get to work on your design using floor plans of your building before presenting you with an installation proposal, including a leasing option if preferred.
4
Installation & Aftercare: It’s then time for your installation! We’ll install and commission, leaving you safe and legally compliant. Then we’ll see you every six months for servicing.

Fire Alarm Installations Explained:
‘WFP’ stands for ‘Wire-Free Protection’ as when we first started out it was specialising particularly in wireless alarms. Of course, whether you need this type of system or not will be totally dependent on the 3 Bs: your Building, Bespoke needs and Budget.
Your Fire Risk Assessment (Step 1, as mentioned above) will stipulate which category of fire alarm you need (i.e. what level of fire detection is required). This could be an:
L1, which offers full cover with fire detection in all areas
L2, which is the same as an L3 plus areas or rooms which are deemed hazardous
L3, which has fire detection in escape routes and the rooms leading directly onto escape routes
L4, where there is fire detection in the escape routes only
Or an L5, which is a building with a specific risk and requires a bespoke design
We’ll also help you decide whether a wired or wireless fire alarm system would be the best fit for your building.
Think of it like your Internet modem: Do you want the system to run being directly linked to the modem or operate over wireless signals?
Both have their pros and cons, and you can even opt to have a hybrid system which uses elements of both. Pretty neat, eh?
Wired systems are more suitable for new buildings compared to wireless which acts a little like plug-and-play with limited wiring needed.
So, if you’re a building that’s newly decorated you probably won’t want to fork out again because of the invasive works needed if you opted for a wired fire alarm system.
Did you know you can even combine the two and have a hybrid fire detection and alarm system? We’ve done a fair few of these in larger buildings, such as residential high-rise buildings, where we wire through the central risers and have communicators/boosters for wireless devices to be used throughout each floor level.
But don’t worry, we’ll suggest the best methodology of installation when we speak to you and survey the premises to make sure it fits all of your needs both now and for the future.
Check out the video from our Founder and fire alarm specialist, Paul, which explains the difference between wired and wireless systems.

Looking for a Payment Plan? Just Ask!
With WFP, there’s no need to sacrifice safety and security if you’re facing budget limitations, or simply want an easier and more cost-effective way of managing your business’s finances.
You can lease your installation, allowing you to spread the upfront cost of that upgrade you hadn’t really planned for….
We even often pay monthly plans via Direct Debit for your ongoing maintenance and servicing subscription with us! You can also choose to freeze your cost, avoiding inflation, by signing up for a 3 or 5 year service contract.
Keeping your premises safe and legally compliant can seem like a chore, but with us it’s super simple and the crucial checkbox that you’ll never need to sacrifice…

Benefit from a 5-Year Warranty:
Once we’ve completed your fire detection and alarm system installation, your (typical) 1-year manufacturer’s warranty will kick in.
However, if you use us for the periodical maintenance of your system (typically required every six months as a legal requirement, but can be required more frequently depending on your Fire Risk Assessment) then WFP will upgrade you to a pretty sweet 5-Year Warranty, which includes parts and labour!
It’s because we’re pretty confident in the quality of equipment we use and our methodology of installation, which is scrupulously project managed and supported by supreme aftercare.
You need to carry out your servicing every six months, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.

Have You Considered Alarm Monitoring?
Fire alarms are only useful if someone is around to hear them…so if you’re installing a fire detection system, it’s also worth asking yourself if you need to consider fire alarm monitoring.
This is an emergency response whereby you/designated key holders and the Fire Brigade (you can have key holders without the Fire Brigade) will be notified if the alarm goes off.
This is super handy for overnight when no one is around and if your premises is left vacant for long periods, because if a fire happens then you’ll be able to act quickly to have it put out and save your valuables, because you’ll know about it!
"Open Protocol" Freedom:
Some alarm system installers operate on a ‘closed protocol’ basis, which means only they can touch the alarm for things like repairs, maintenance and system expansion.
This can be a trap which people unknowingly fall into, thereby having no choice but to stick with them, even if they weren’t happy with the level of service and wanted to switch providers.
At WFP, customer happiness and quality of service is at the top of our priority list. So, we figured ‘why deceive and lock people in?’ If, after your installation, you want to move on to another maintenance service provider to service your alarm then you can. The vast majority do stick with us but you’re definitely not tied down!
Just another reason to have a sigh of relief when you trust WFP with your life safety system…
Concerned About False Alarms?
Our fire alarm experts know how detrimental false alarms can be. They can impact revenue, customer satisfaction, as well as create unwanted stress and even a lack of faith in fire alarms.
Of course, it’s important to carry out your weekly testing and also periodical fire drills to make sure your fire alarm is working as it should, everyone knows what it sounds like and also what to do during evacuation proceedings. But, an unplanned false alarm, especially one which leads to a huge building needing to evacuate, is not what you need.
During our design, we’ll go through all the nitty gritties to make sure that false alarms are minimised. Whether that’s minimising the use of call points (or removing them altogether, for example in high-rise buildings), using call point covers, or turning to heat detectors instead of smoke detectors. We’ll cover this off with you, as well as making sure your periodical maintenance will be sorted too, as this is a key part of being able to spot faults which could lead to false alarms.
